Job Description

Position Description
The Graduate Intern position is an unclassified, at-will position. The ideal candidate performs a variety of paraprofessional duties related to their course of study at the college or university they are attending in support of the staff in charge. Duties may entail answering telephones, emails, follow up with students, assistance with applications and personal statements, etc. Successful candidates will have strong listening, organizational, presentation, and research skills.
The ideal candidate must also have initiative, motivation, and a strong desire to help students explore and discover their academic, career and major options. Applicants must be able to work with frequent interruptions in a fast-paced, high-volume office and have the ability to multi-task and be student friendly. The responsibilities of the graduate include the following:
• Assist in the development and facilitation of workshops on transfer planning, personal statements, and application completion.
• Classroom presentations or orientations focused on transfer success.
• Conduct outreach to increase student awareness of transfer services and events
• Represent the transfer center during campus events, tabling, and classroom visits,
• Assists with the management of social media and newsletter content related to transfer resources.
• Support communication between students and university representatives.
• Maintain student records and assist with data tracking for program evaluation.
• Help update transfer guides, resource materials, and bulletin boards.
• Assist with organizing and promoting transfer fairs and transfer celebrations
• Other duties may be assigned
Qualifications & Requirements
• Must meet LACCD enrollment requirements
• Must be enrolled full-time as a graduate student in accredited degree program.
• Be available to work 15-20 hours per week may include some evenings and/or weekends
• Must be skilled with using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and other technology
Employment Limit
Four (4) years, unless evidence is provided which demonstrates the student is diligently pursuing the attainment of an academic degree.
Compensation:
This is an unclassified at-will position with the LACCD and contingent upon funding, pay rate: $20.29 an hour employed for 15-20 hours a week
