Job Description: The Office of Community Expectations (OCE) at the University of Southern California
is seeking a dedicated Graduate Assistant to support our mission of promoting a respectful and
accountable campus community. The successful candidate will assist in fostering restorative outcomes
and organizing workshops aimed at promoting positive behaviors among students. This position offers a
unique opportunity to gain practical experience in higher education, student affairs, and educational
intervention practices.


The Office of Community Expectations (OCE) works to provide preventative education regarding student
behavior policies to students and Recognized Student Organizations. This office works together with
other key members of the university to implement the university’s Unifying Values outlined in our
Student Handbook, as it relates to students and community expectations. OCE reviews allegations of nonacademic
misconduct and behavior that does not align with the USC Student handbook and other
university policies. We are dedicated to fostering a respectful and accountable campus by promoting
community standards, providing educational interventions, and supporting personal growth to ensure
alignment with USC’s scholarly expectations.


The mission of the Office of Community Expectations (OCE) is to promote student accountability,
community standards, and responsibility. We strive to achieve this through proactive education,
preventative interventions, an individualized developmental approach, and a connection to the greater
USC community and its resources.


Outcomes, assigned when a student is found responsible for violating policy, reflect the Office of
Community Expectations’ values of Accountability, Conduct with Care, and Integrity. These outcomes
include educational interventions and status-based measures, designed to foster responsible behavior and
personal growth by promoting student accountability. Outcomes not only cultivate individual student
development but also reinforce community standards and expectations, encouraging students to make
informed, ethical choices within the university environment.


As a representative of the Office of Community Expectations, the Graduate Assistant is expected to abide
by the USC Student Handbook and uphold the standards of USC’s scholarly community in their conduct
and professional responsibilities.


Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist in the development and implementation of data and research informed educational
outcomes for best practices within the Office of Community Expectations.
2. Facilitate educational outcome processes, including but not limited to presentations to small and
large groups (including students, faculty, and staff).
3. Collaborate with staff to create and deliver workshops and educational programs such as conflict
resolution, communication skills, and community building.
4. Conduct outreach efforts to promote awareness of educational intervention and programming
among students, faculty, and staff.
5. Perform other duties as assigned by the Office of Community Expectations staff.


Job Requirements:
1. Currently enrolled in a graduate program at the University of Southern California.
2. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to facilitate difficult conversations
and build rapport with diverse populations.
3. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
4. Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and social justice.
5. Preferred previous experience in student affairs, conflict resolution, or related fields is desirable.


Pay and Hours:
● Pay: $19.28 per hour.
● Hours: Part-time, up to twelve (12) hours per week (excludes student recess and recognized
University holidays)
