Position Overview
The USC Career Center supports undergraduate and graduate students and alumni across all majors and programs. The Career Engagement Graduate Intern role provides hands-on experience in a university-wide career center, with a primary focus on student-facing career advising and programming.
Graduate interns participate in a cohort model that supports professional development, training, and collaboration throughout the academic year.
Primary Responsibilities (Career Engagement Focus)
- Provide drop-in advising (resume/cover letter reviews, job & internship search guidance)
- Conduct individual career advising appointments and mock interviews
- Lead workshops on resumes, interviewing, networking, and job/internship search strategies
- Support signature events such as Mock Interview Night with USC Alumni, Career Fest, and Suit-Up
- Present to student groups and academic classes
- Contribute to marketing, content updates, and special projects
Interns will design and deliver at least one original career workshop during the year.

- Internship programming and employer site visits
- Internship Expo Event support
- Student and employer panels
- Internship-focused workshops and collaborations
Employer Engagement
- Employer outreach efforts
- Support for large-scale events such as career fairs
- Event planning and program support
Learning Outcomes
Interns will:
- Develop advising skills grounded in career development theory
- Gain exposure to university-wide career services operations
- Strengthen workshop facilitation and program development skills
- Expand knowledge of industries, employers, and job/internship pathways
Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in a USC graduate program
- M.Ed. students in Postsecondary Administration (PASA) and Educational Counseling (EC) are strongly encouraged to apply
- Experience in peer advising, mentoring, or student-facing roles preferred
- Strong communication and customer service skills
Availability & Training
- Commitment to full academic year
- 15–18 hours per week
- Must be available 1:00–3:30 pm for drop-in advising; some evening hours based on programmatic needs
- In-person position
- Required August training prior to fall semester
- Weekly Tuesday training sessions throughout the academic year
Compensation
Compensation is $18.00-$20.00 per hour.
