Title: Student-Athlete Enrichment Programs and Services Graduate Assistant (StEPS GA)


Job Description:
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Academic Advising and the Director of Student Services, the StEPS Graduate Assistant position works with academic advisors, student services staff, and other athletic department and university staff to support student-athlete well-being and degree progression. The StEPS GA plays an important role in supporting USC student athletes by providing academic coaching and assistance utilizing campus resources. This position completes administrative tasks related to streamlining communication, managing data, and facilitating educational events. The StEPS GA contributes to reports on student performance and participates in weekly training.
Roles and Responsibilities:

Maintain organized records (collections), tracking tools (academic eligibility, housing applications, student health insurance waiver completion, financial aid recipients, etc.), and communication logs (Teamwork’s, SharePoint, & TSAS email accounts)

Support high-volume workflows during peak periods, including but not limited to:
o
Travel & flight coordination cycles
o
Reimbursement & payment processing windows
o
Seasonal housing timelines
o
Graduation preparation periods (cap & gown rentals)

Assist in planning and implementing educational events including but not limited to:
o
strategically timed pop-up events aligned with student needs (i.e. direct deposit, financial aid applications, etc.)
o
Student-Athlete Development programming related to transitioning in and out of USC, financial wellbeing, belonging, and career development

Assist academic advisors with preparation of material for meetings with coaches
-
Provide academic coaching and monitor academic progress of a caseload of student-athletes
-
Attendance at weekly academic advisor and student services meetings

Complete required training related to NCAA rules, academic eligibility, and USC student systems such as web registration, financial aid, and housing.

Adhere to NCAA rules pertinent to athletic department employees
Skills & Abilities:

Strong organizational and communication skills
-
Ability to manage data and maintain accurate records
-
Comfortable working with software, databases, and shared digital platforms
-
Approachable, reliable, and able to maintain confidentiality
Qualifications:
-
Must be a currently enrolled in a USC graduate program and be in good academic standing
-
Relevant coursework in education, business, communication, or related fields preferred
-
Interest or experience working in higher education, academics or athletics preferred
Availability Requirement:
-
Must be available to work 20 hours per week August 17th 2026-May 12th 2027

Work hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00AM – 5:00PM

Weekend availability as needed for programming, meetings, or events
Compensation: $25/hour
