About the Basic Needs Center
The Basic Needs Center traces its roots to 2003, when faculty and staff came together to support a student experiencing homelessness while raising a young child. What began as a collaborative effort to address one student's immediate needs evolved into a campus-wide commitment to supporting students facing food insecurity, housing instability, transportation barriers, and other challenges that impact academic success.
Today, the Basic Needs Center serves thousands of students annually through case management, emergency assistance, public benefits enrollment, food support programs, housing referrals, and holistic student services. As one of the largest basic needs programs in the region, we remain committed to ensuring students have the resources necessary to persist, graduate, and achieve their goals.
