Job Description

WLAC is growing its noncredit and adult education program and is hiring dynamic and organized Unclassified Paid Interns to support on- and off-campus noncredit courses, students, and program activities. Interns will work under the supervision of staff and administration.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the administration of CASAS intake and assessments
  • Proctor and coordinate CASAS pre and post-tests onsite and offsite
  • Contact students to schedule individual CASAS assessments, send confirmation email and proctor the assessment via Zoom.
  • Track CASAS assessments for assigned classes and follow up when necessary
  • Maintain accuracy of class rosters as it pertains to CASAS assessment scheduling and completion
  • Provide program information and student services support (e.g., application, enrollment) via Zoom, phone, email and in-person to the WLAC campus, its partners, and the public
  • Provide clerical support to the noncredit program staff and faculty on and off-campus
  • Assist with data input and report preparation
  • Assist with promotion and information regarding WLAC’s Free College program, courses and activities

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Enrolled as a full-time upper division or graduate student in counseling, social work or a related field at an accredited four-year college or university for duration of employment
  • In good academic standing
  • Available to work during the following hours, preferably during evenings:
    • Monday – Thursday, 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM | Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Saturdays, 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
  • Eligible for employment in the United States
  • WiFi for hybrid work schedule
  • Valid C license, vehicle and minimum liability insurance

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral Spanish
  • Excellent skills using MS Word, MS Excel
  • Able to collaborate and work on a team and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, and faculty
  • Demonstrate effectiveness and experience working with historically under-represented students and non-traditional students
  • Effective customer service in facilitating student access to various college programs, services, and resources

HOURS PER WEEK & COMPENSATION:

  • Up to 20 hours per
  • The hourly pay rate is $20.29 per hour.
