Graduate Assistant
USC Viterbi AME Student AffairsThe USC Viterbi School of Engineering AME Student Affairs is seeking a Graduate Assistant for the start of Spring 2025. The graduate assistant will work closely with the AME Student Affairs team and assist in various administrative duties. This individual will help with student support, event planning, administrative support, and other duties assigned pertinent to the success of AME Student Affairs.
Pay: $20/hour
Time Commitment: 10-15 hours per week
Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Director of AME Student Affairs, the Graduate Assistant will assist in various roles, including:
• Monitor, manage and answer emails in shared inboxes
• Oversee AME Newsletters (Undergrad, Grad and Ph.D.)
• Create informational materials, guides and checklists for degree requirements and other academic resources
• Collect course, registration and enrollment data for department
• Facilitate academic resource workshops
• Assist in preparation for various events, including Ph.D. Preview Day, Commencement, Orientations, and other student programming
• Post important updates and information to share with students in various social media platforms
• Assist with updating and auditing student academic records in SIS
• Conduct peer advising via drop-in advising to help answer common questions and provide guidance on academic resources
• Additional duties pertaining to AME Student Affairs
Qualifications: Must have strong written and oral skills; Event planning experience; Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, especially PowerPoint, Word, and Excel; Strong organizational skills; Comfortable in a creative, automatic, flexible work setting; Enjoy working as part of a team; Interested and passionate about the needs and development of academic programs; Must be a self-starter with an eagerness to learn and problem solve; Be tech savvy, with social media experience, and familiar with programs such as, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and the Google platform of products.
Education: Must be an admitted or current Master’s level student enrolled in good standing and taking credits towards the degree as required by USC.

Primary Learning Outcome: Gain knowledge and experience in working with a graduate student population and its constituents.
